Therapy & Clinical Questions
Both are regulated mental health professionals in Ontario who provide evidence-based psychotherapy. Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and focus on the practice of psychotherapy. Registered Social Workers (RSWs) hold a Master of Social Work and are regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), often integrating the person within their wider social and family context. At KDW, you can work with either, depending on your needs and fit.
Fit is one of the most important factors in effective therapy. We offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can speak with a clinician, talk through your goals, and get a feel for how we work before booking a first session. You can also read each clinician's full profile to understand their approach and areas of focus.
The first session is a collaborative conversation. Your therapist will ask about what has been happening, how it is affecting your daily life, and what you hope to work toward. You do not need to have everything figured out, it is an open, respectful space to begin building a foundation for the work together.
We work in a hybrid model. You can attend in-person sessions at 451 Springbank Drive in London, Ontario, or choose secure, encrypted virtual video or phone sessions from anywhere in Ontario.
Fees, Insurance & Policies
Many extended health plans in Ontario reimburse services provided by Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers, but coverage varies by plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your first session to confirm your specific coverage, limits, and whether they reimburse RP or RSW services.
We collect payment at the time of service and provide a detailed receipt that includes the credentials and registration information your insurer needs. You then submit that receipt to your plan for reimbursement.
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to the full session fee, as that time was reserved for you.
All sessions are 60 minutes, and we also offer 90-minute sessions for those who prefer more time. Frequency depends on your goals and what you and your therapist decide together. Many people start weekly or biweekly and adjust as they progress.
